10 FAQs

What is the TEN Campaign trying to do?
We are trying to help people in Fort Wayne better understand our developing resettled refugee population and their positive contribution to our community. The campaign is designed to INFORM (accurate information) INSPIRE (compelling stories) and INVOLVE (opportunities to make a difference) the broader Fort Wayne community about refugees.

Who started it?
The Reclamation Project , Inc., started the TEN Campaign as a part of their advocacy and education based refugee mission in collaboration with refugee community leaders and others who share this passion

What does the "10" stand for?
The "10" refers to the Refugee Decade many refugees spend 10 years or more of their lives in refugee camps after fleeing their homeland for their lives. Understanding more about this 10 year period helps to put refugee resettlement in its proper perspective and fosters positive awareness.

Is the TEN Campaign trying to bring more resettled refugees to Fort Wayne?
No. Neither the TEN Campaign nor its sponsor, The Reclamation Project, Inc., has control over who or how many refugees are resettled to Ft. Wayne.

Doesn't Fort Wayne have too many resettled refugees already?
No. Though the economy is weak right now, we believe the fundamental challenge is not over-saturation; but under-involvement. The TEN Campaign seeks to create more positive awareness of refugee issues so that more involvement from the broader Fort Wayne community will create more resources and better opportunities for successful integration.

What do you want people like me to do?
Join the campaign and Give "TEN" - Give $10 a month, Give 10 hours and Tell 10 friends. (link to Join TEN page) You can also encourage your business, workplace, school, or church to host a TEN Campaign exhibit.

Where do proceeds from the campaign go?
All proceeds go to The Reclamation Project, Inc in support of their refugee community development initiatives and the TEN Campaign. All gifts are tax deductible.

Why do you ask for only $10 dollars?
Small is the new big. Nearly everyone can commit $10 month to the cause from students to refugees themselves. The goal is to have as many supporters as possible. Keeping the financial commitment bar at a lower level helps us to meet that goal.

What do (former) refugees think about the TEN Campaign?
While the refugee community in Fort Wayne is very diverse and is not represented by any one group, generally speaking, many resettled refugees are eager to tell their stories and convey the positive contributions they are making to the greater Fort Wayne community as they integrate.
